The South Seas Evangelical Church has begun celebrations to mark its Golden Jubilee at the site of the mission\’s first arrival – Ambu, Malaita Province.
The gathering is reported to expect between 6-thousand to 7-thousand delegates from as far as Vanuatu, and from other Solomon Islands provinces with SSEC church establishments.
Deputy Prime Minister Manasseh Maelanga, Finance Minister Rick Hou and the Aoke-Langa Langa MP Matthew Wale were also part of the celebration in Ambu.
The South Seas Evangelical Church was established in 1964 under its current name, and became independent from the South Seas Evangelical Mission in 1975.
SIBC News understands the celebration will end on Sunday.
