SOLOMON ISLANDS IS IN NCD CRISIS, SAYS DR. GEOFF

Solomon Islands is in a crisis of non communicable diseases, says the National Advisor for Non Communicable Diseases, Dr Geoff Kenilorea.

Dr Geoff told a press conference last week, non communicable diseases like diabetes, stroke, heart attacks are increasing.

He also said two-thirds of beds at the National Referral Hospital are taken up by patients with non communicable diseases.

\”Solomon Islands is in a crisis, as we\’ve heard Dr. Chris talked about infectious diseases and every other diseases reported. Solomon Islands is also in a crisis of non communicable diseases, where a lot of  cancer cases, stroke and heart attack as well as diabetes are increasing. Actually if we visit the hospital at the moment, almost two-thirds of the hospital beds are occupied by non-communicable diseases\”, said Dr. Geoff.
