Solomon Islands now has one of the largest graphic health warnings requirements on tobacco packaging in the Pacific.
Under the Tobacco Control Regulations, graphic health warning shows 70% in front 30% at the back of tobacco packaging from 1st January 2015.
A statement from the Ministry of Health, yesterday said Solomon Islands has a high rate of smoking, particularly among young people.
Many people do not realise that smoking is a leading cause of preventable non-communicable diseases.
It adds the new graphic health warnings showing the dangers of tobacco use will now be displayed on all tobacco products in Solomon Islands.
