Permanent Secretary of Finance and Treasury, Fred Fakarii said State-Owned Enterprise delivers vital services to the people and the economy.
Mr Fakarii was speaking to open the12th State-Owned Enterprise Forum at the Heritage Park Hotel yesterday.
The Forum brought together SOEs and other officials to share experiences and discuss issues confronting their organisations.
Mr Fakarii outlined the Government’s expectations of SOEs and emphasized the important role they play in the economy.
He said SOEs deliver vital services to people and contribute to the economy through job creation, skills development and government development aspirations, but cautioned against becoming complacent.
Other speakers at the SOE Forum included former Minister of State Owned Enterprises in New Zealand Richard Prebble and the co-author of the ADB\’s Finding Balance report, Laure Darcy.
