Solomon Islands needs to step up on providing awareness especially on the characteristics of hazards on disaster risk reduction.
Director of the National Disaster Management Office Loti Yates madethe statement in his presentation during the Pacific IslandsAssociation of Non-Governmental Organisation forum last week.
Mr Yates said the recommendations was made after a stakeholder wideconsultations on disaster impacts to improve humanitarian action.
He adds Solomon Islands needs to step up on providing awareness especially on the characteristics of hazards on disaster risk reduction.
\”Training and awareness needs to be stepped up especially on the characteristics of hazards, behaviours of different hazards, improving communication with the establishment of HF radios.\”
