The National Teachers Association has called on its member teachers to prioritise their careers and begin the 2014 academic year.

SINTA\’s General Secretary Samson Faisi made the call today after his office received numerous complaints from education authorities about teachers absenteeism in some schools.

\”Our office sees this as a concern and we would like to advise teachers who are up to such practice, please return back to your places of work comes the second term and start your classes normally. It\’s no use for SINTA to bark aloud every now and then in trying to fight government\’s injustice to teachers, yet we also do injustice to our children and communities that we suppose to serve.\”

Meanwhile, the SINTA General Secretary says there are avenues to address teacher-related issues and teachers should not take to abstaining from attending schools and classes.

Mr Faisi said SINTA will only be responsive for teachers who have good reason to abstain from classes.
