A former Provincial Police Commander for Malaita Province, Lucian Konata has questioned the current deployment of RSIPF officers to join United Nations peacekeeping missions abroad.

Mr. Konata told SIBC News, UN international peacekeeping duties extensively relates to military responsibilities unlike those of police forces which are domestic.

\”Mr. Konata says peacekeeping duties are the responsibility and language of military officers and not for police officers. He said police officers are only responsible for preventing crime, detect crime, prosecute offenders and save lives and properties amongst local civilians.\”

SIBC News understands, five police officers have left the country to serve in Darfur, Sudan under the UN Mission.
