The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force patrol boat Auki has returned to Honiara this morning after a successful relief mission following Cyclone  Pam in Vanuatu.

Patrol Boat Auki was deployed on the humanitarian mission to Port Villa for two months after the devastating Cyclone Pam in March this year.

Speaking at his weekly media conference today, Police Commissioner Frank Prendergast said Vanuatu is impressed with the positive impacts Patrol boat Auki provided.

\”I had some very positive feedback from the Vanuatu Police Commissioner\’s representative during the Police Commissioner\’s conference last week about the impact of the patrol boat and its work.\”

Meanwhile, the Police Commissioner has also praised the Royal Solomon Islands Police saying the Force has set a benchmark for the country by being involved in the humanitarian mission to Vanuatu.

Speaking today at a brief ceremony to welcome back Patrol Boat Auki, Frank Prendergast told police officers deployed to Vanuatu they have not only helped a neighbour in need, but have also set a benchmark for Solomon Islands.

\”And I think what you\’ve done is not only have you helped a neighbour in need, you\’ve set a benchmark for the service of the RSIPF, where it can provide in these circumstances. You\’ve done the police force proud but you\’ve also set an example for the country.\”
