The Royal Solomon Island Police Force (RSIPF) has commenced investigation into the burning of around 30 machines belonging to the Gold Ridge Mining Limited (GRLM) last night.
Those involved are yet to be identified while assessment of the incident is ongoing.
It was alleged that the unknown people are not happy with the company for not addressing their long-outstanding issues.
Acting Commissioner of the RSIPF Mr. Mathias Lenialu said police have contained the situation and will deal with those responsible for the burning incident.
Commissioner Lenialu said investigators are now working to gather evidence and identify the individuals.
Mr. Lenialu appeals to parties involved to revisit and have a healthy dialogue to avoid such an incident.
“By addressing grievances constructively, parties can work towards a resolution that benefits each and every one,” he said.
Meanwhile, the GRML management is intending to meet with the landowners and representatives of the frustrated groups.
Police appeal to those who know about any person involved to report information to the police. This will help police with their investigation and bring those responsible to justice.
