MONDAY 9TH JUNE WHIT MONDAY: HOME AFFAIRS MINISTRY

The Ministry of Home Affairs has confirmed Monday, June 9 as this year\’s Whit Monday.

Director of Civil Affairs, Robert Farodo explains, Whit Monday is a gazetted public holiday in Solomon Islands.

\”Under the Public notice number 1 of 2014 national and Provincial Public Holidays have already been gazetted in accordance with the Schedule to the Public Holidays Act, so in fact Whit Monday falls on Monday the 9th of June.\”

Whit Monday or Pentecost Monday, is a Christian holiday.

It is the day after Pentecost,which commemorates the descent of the Holy Ghost on disciples of Jesus Christ, according to the New Testament Bible.
