Communities in Pusiju and Kongulavata in Western Province are currently implementing a Mini Fisheries Project with the support from WWF Solomon Islands.
The initiative forms part of the Community Resilience – Nature Based Solution Project funded by the United Kingdom Government.
WWF Solomon Islands Conservation Manager Henry Kaniki said work on the project is progressing well in both communities and is expected to be completed by next month.
Kaniki explained that the project aims to strengthen community resilience by providing alternative livelihood opportunities through sustainable fisheries activities.
He acknowledged that while some challenges have been encountered during implementation, community members remain optimistic and committed to the project’s success.
The Mini Fisheries Project is a nine-month initiative that commenced in July 2025.
