People of Bita\’ama in North Malaita are facing local food scarcity.
Chief Stanley Rofsini told SIBC News yesterday, the current food shortage issue is worrying.
\”What happened at the Maru\’u market was that after the heavy rains we are now having problems with local food shortages, especially from our suppliers who are living inland and this morning we found no potatoes or taro.\”
Chief Rofsini says that the recent heavy rain experienced in the region is believed to have caused the food shortage in the area.
\”The recent heavy rain has destroyed potatoes and speaking with you my garden has also been flooded by the recent heavy rain.\”
