The High Court has today convicted and remanded a man for raping a mute girl in 2013.
The man from Temotu province was convicted on one count of rape and one count of buggery
The victim was a 13-year-old girl living with a disability – she could not speak.
Justice Francis Manesalua remanded the accused in custody after pronouncing the verdict.
He adjourned the case to Tuesday next week for a sentence.
