Police this week arrested a fifty year old man for electoral offences and allegedly providing misleading offences.

The arrest was made after police received referral from the Solomon Islands Electoral commission.

The man breached the electoral act, under section one- one- three, subsection two.

The man allegedly registered on seven different occasions under different names, date of births and other personal details.

Supervising commissioner Mr Gabriel Manelusi said the man had already been charged and appeared in the Honiara magistrate court yesterday.

\”The man has been charged with seven charges of misleading information, this carries a maximum penalty of fifty thousand dollars, or imprisonment for five years or both if found guilty,\” he said.

\”He is expected to appear in the Honiara magistrate court today (Yesterday), the arrest is made possible through the joint effort by the RSIPF and the Solomon Islands electoral commission to ensure that all electoral process are operated in a lawful , fairly and safely.\”
