Kukum Highway turns into Kukum River as heavy rain hits Honiara

Heavy rain which hit the Solomon Islands capital Honiara this afternoon has flooded a major stretch of Kukum Highway and left much of the city under water.

Police have urged motorists to be patient this afternoon on the commute home after the rain front hit the capital at 3.30pm this afternoon and continued until about 5pm.

It drenched roads and footpaths leaving Kukum Highway underwater and slowing traffic down to a standstill.

Parts of East Honiara were also flooded.
