India\’s New High Commissioner to Solomon Islands has paid a courtesy call to Prime Minister Manasseh Sogavare and invited the Prime Minister to make a state visit to India.

Madhava Chandra arrived in Honiara on Tuesday, accompanied by his wife and an official from the High Commission of India in Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea.

Receiving the Indian High Commissioner yesterday, Prime Minister Sogavare said Solomon Islands can learn a lot from India as the largest democratic and developed countries of the Commonwealth.

Meanwhile, the new Indian High Commissioner has invited Prime Minister Sogavare to make a state visit to India during his term of office.

Madhava Chandra and his delegation will leave Honiara on Monday.

Solomon Islands and India first established diplomatic relations in May 1987.
