When Prime Minister Rick Houenipwela took over the Government last year, there were 51 political appointees whose annual salaries and benefits totaled more than $19 million.
By cutting the number of political appointees to 36, the Government will save more than $6 million this year.
\”For the reduced number of PAs, expenditure is $12,926,064 annually,\” Prime Minister Houenipwela said in Parliament on Monday.
He said the savings cover political appointees\’ payroll, re-levelling and attached benefits.
