The Government will make a dollar-for-dollar contribution towards the renovation of the Children\’s Ward at the National Referral Hospital.
The pledge was announced at the Children\’s Ward fundraising by one of the co-organisers Ms Doreen Kuper.
The Inaugural Solomon Islands Fashion Festival, held at the Honiara Hotel last Tuesday night, featured the modelling of the latest locally-designed fashion wear, an auction of donated goods and a return ticket to anywhere in Solomon Islands, a prize jointly sponsored by Guadalcanal Plains Palm Oil Limited and Solomon Airlines.
Organisers say a total sum of $50,000 was raised that night from the auction alone whilst the funds raised from corporate sponsorship at the dinner including pledges are still coming through.
