Namolalae Clinic in Malaita province has recorded an outbreak of diarrhoea and dysentery since November.

Nurse in Charge Rose Manunu told SIBC News, the clinic now records more than 20 cases including several deaths as a result of the outbreak.

\”We\’ve heard that one has just died this morning, a 10-month-old child. Only one died at the clinic while two others died in the village last week due to dysentery and malnutrition.\”

Mrs Manunu adds lack of proper water and sanitation is a contributing factor leading up to the outbreak adding a clean environment will help stop the current outbreak.

\”I have advised the surrounding villages here that they should keep their villages clean, keep children\’s food safe from flies. Proper sanitation is also a huge problem here.\”
