The Solomon Islands Government under the leadership of the Democratic Coalition for Change Government has resolved to commit to better protecting the range of benefits that Solomon Islands derives from the ocean.

The resolution came out of the Solomon Islands Government Ocean Summit held in Honiara yesterday.

The summit also declared that more needs to do more to achieve the vision for \’a healthy, secure, clean and productive ocean which benefits the people of Solomon Islands and beyond\’.

The Summit agreed on seven resolutions which will be implemented to boost its ocean conservation effort.

The resolutions include: to establish a ministerial-level working group to be called the Ocean 12-plus.

The figure reflects the 12 government Ministries that attended the inaugural ocean summit and their colleagues and partners.

The Summit also resolved to review all relevant legislation, policies, plans and strategies to support improved ocean management.

Another resolution was to forge and identify new partnerships and new external sources to attract additional resources and technical expertise to boost government efforts to protect the Ocean.
