People of Bahomea region, Central Guadalcanal are calling on the government to send an assessment team to their area as soon as possible.

Speaking to SIBC News Wilfred Manesu of Tina Village says it is almost two weeks now and the disaster stricken Bahomea region is yet to be assessed.

He says people are hungry and need clean drinking water.

Mr Manesu adds his people desperately need assistance from responsible authorities as their food gardens are all destroyed during the recent flash floods.

\”We desperately need assistance and people, women and children really need assistance in two very important areas. One is we don\’t have any water source outside of the Tina river. We only use dug out wells close to the Tina river for drinking water and with the current status of the river, we cannot able to have drinking water as it is still unsafe for consumption. The second thing is food. We have lost all our food crops and gardens in the floods and this is evident once an assessment is conducted.\”
