The Australian High Commission in Honiara has described an article published in yesterday\’s issue of the Island Sun newspaper as \”incorrect\”.
The article titled \’Australia Opens up for SI\’ was a front page story by Alfred Pagepitu.
In a statement today, the Australian High Commission office said Australia supports the sovereignity, prosperity and stability of Solomon Islands.
It says Australia\’s programs are not changing saying, it is committed to supporting Solomon Islands to increase participation in Australi\’s Pacific Labour Scheme and the Seasonal Workers Program from 334 Solomon Islands workers who participated in the scheme during 2018-2019.
The Australian High Commission encourages the media to check the facts with them before publishing unverified stories about Australian policy and programs in the country.
