The Rural Development Program (RDP) is a good vehicle to enhance development in the country, said Program Manager Lottie Vaisekavea.
In an interview with SIBC News, Mr. Vaisekavea said RDP is a mechanism that government institutions and provinces can use to improve transparency and accountability in development terms.
\”What RDP has really strengthened is that it is a vehicle by which a lot of government and provincial institutions can use the mechanism it developed to improve transparency and accountability as well as avoid the problems faced when we have development, so it is a good vehicle, not meaning it\’s perfect but also has issues, though they are minor issues. It can provide more good lessons to government whether at the national or provincial level to partner properly with our people.\”
The recently passed RDP second phase has three components totaling US$46.9 million, with a Solomon Islands Government US$20 million contributions.
