Prime Minister Manasseh Damukana Sogavare has acknowledged the concerns raised by the Solomon Islands National Teachers Association (SINTA) over the longstanding grievances of its members and urged the SINTA Executive to make a formal appointment with his government for a dialogue.

The Solomon Star reported that SINTA in its Annual General Meeting resolved to give the Democratic Coalition for Change Government until June 2015 to address the grievances of its members.

But in a government statement Mr Sogavare said SINTA can be assured of the government\’s commitment to addressing its members\’ grievances and urged them to make a formal appointment for discussions.

Mr. Sogavare said DCC kindly ask that SINTA treat it as its government by going directly to them and discuss their issues of concern.

He said DCC acknowledged there are issues to be addressed and a dialogue to iron them out is the way forward.

The Prime Minister said the Democratic Coalition for Change Government denotes change and it is determined to bring about visible positive change in Solomon Islands during its tenure in office.
