The Commonwealth Secretary General has agreed to deploy an 11-person Commonwealth Observer Group (COG) for the Solomon Islands General Elections, due on 19 November.
This response is directly related to an invitation by the Solomon Islands Government to the Commonwealth Secretary General\’s Office.
Sir Mekere Morauta, former Prime Minister of Papua New Guinea will lead the Observer group, supported by Commonwealth Secretariat staff.
The observers will be meeting various organisations including the Solomon Islands Media Association ahead of the actual polling day to gain fair knowledge about the Solomon Islands political and electoral context.
