The Ministry of Fisheries and Marine Resources plans to re-open its Yandina Fisheries Centre.

The Centre was closed after its generators and ice making machine encountered mechanical faults.

Fisheries Officer Edward Hirohavi says provision of additional water tanks will alleviate water problem currently faced at the centre.

Mr Hirohavi says reviving the Fisheries Centre with new Ice machine, generator and other related facilities is very important.

He adds, Fisheries Sector is one of the important sector providing alternative source of income for rural fishermen and women.
