Health authorities have recorded eleven suspected cases of measles, and are calling on parents to get their children immunized against the illness.
The eleven cases were discovered in the last three weeks, and was reported to the National Surveillance Unit.
In a statement, the health authorities say parents must have their children immunized with the free vaccination available in Solomon Islands.
Permanent Secretary for Health and Medical Services, Dr Lester Ross says measles is a highly contagious and deadly disease, but can be easily prevented with a vaccine.
Dr Ross says the measles vaccine is safe, effective and free, and is available at local health clinics in Solomon Islands.
The last measles outbreak in Solomon Islands was in late 1993 to 1994.
